More About Grey Designs
For interior designers, grey can also be used to balance other colours, as it can be easily tinted to warm of cool a space. It can also be darkened and lightened to contract bright or light colours perfectly.
Way back when we lived in caves, grey pigment was produced using manganite oxides. In (slightly) more recent times, is has been used since 900AD by Wang Wei who was the first to use the colour grey in notable art. Wei was an inkwash painter, who utilised the oldest form of Chinese art. Grey also falls in line with China's buddhist philosophies of reservation and a calm, utilitarian outlook on life. In the renaissance period, the colour grey became popular in the West, through art by the likes of Michelangelo.
